Coming from the perspective of an artist, (More specifically, a Photographer) I completely agree and disagree! (What did he just say? Blasphemy!)

See on the one hand, If I took a picture of a hat with shit all over the lens, and actually planned the shot to look like that, It might actually mean something. Maybe not something that other people (yes, you my dear Fitz) see. However, it could mean something specifically to the photographer. i.e.: Dirt on the lens is a great way to make the shot seem like it was taken 100 years ago.

On the other hand. Modern art is not fucking art. I don't think I've seen a SINGLE piece of Modern art I thought was Art, or even Craft.

Seriously guys. Da Vinci looks down on you in pity. You made Van Gogh cry.

i agree with you on some parts.
splatters on a paper can hardly be described as art.

but the point of alot of art, is the concept, more than how it is done.

for example: there's a series of 'paintings' which are just a with canvas with a red splatter on them. they are made with blood from HIV-positive people.

sure, we all create something like that, but the concept and idea...i would never have come up with something like that.

A lot of people use Art and Artistic interchangeably. Maybe the design of said fountain is artistic, because it may have taken someone time or skill to design.

But I agree, stuff like Jackson Pollack is not art, nor artisitic. Well, mostly. But you get my point I hope.
